Spice Bottles -
For thousands of years, people from different parts of the world didn’t stop searching for
different spices to give different foods distinct flavors. In the past centuries, only the wealthy families were
able to afford and use spices. You could literally trade anything for a sack of spices back during that
era.
Food lovers these days are much luckier because they could easily find the necessary spices they
want for a lot cheaper price. People have also learned how to maximize the storage of both fresh and dried spices.
The simple invention for example of spice bottles made it easier to store and organize dried spices. These bottles
come in different sizes and shapes depending on your collection and taste. There is a wide variety of bottles and
jars that you can choose from such as glass bottles, plastics, ceramics and even metals. Prices also have a wide
range depending on the material and design. There are simple bottles that you can buy for $1.50 to a $15.00 each.
There is always an available spice bottle that will best suit your budget and style.
Choosing the right kind of spice bottles is very important. Aside from finding the perfect design, size and price,
you need to make sure that they are air-tight and resealable. Caps which are screw-type seal the bottle better than
the flip-top type. The material should also be moisture proof. Wooden jars don’t make a good storage for spices for
this reason.
You also need a spice rack to organize them properly. Putting several bottles and jars on your counter top takes so
much space. So, if you have accumulated much number of spices in bottles, you will eventually find it difficult to
locate the right bottle when you need it, and you’ll have much lesser space to work on. Additionally, it’s
important to place the rack far from the stove, direct sunlight or any heat sources. Heat makes spices lose their
quality much faster. Racks can be placed on the counter top or hung on the wall. Lastly, there should be enough
space (height wise) when you retrieve bottles from the top of the shelf.
